About the Book, the Author, and the Illustrator.
The Sprouted Peanut Vaccine and Other Stories begins with a young person’s quest to cure the greatest threat to his life. With fun and rigour, science and story, it addresses the questions, “why is this illness on the rise,” “who is at risk,” and “what can they and their loved ones do?” Features include:
The most complete survey and explanation to
date of scientific studies and alternative medicine on the range of
people’s reactions;
Dozens of causes beyond protein and
solutions beyond avoidance, epinephrine, or waiting for a vaccine;
A holistic plan and tools for improving
everyday life with peanut allergy and related ills, with the possibility of
outgrowing them;
Full references,
bibliography, and links to allergy support groups;
Wild,
human stories;
Beautiful, thought-provoking illustrations.
“Given allergy as a mismanagement, often under pressure, of routine stimulus,
the healing process described herein is a slow and steady destressing and
reordering of body and feelings, so as to then be able to handle faster, wilder
stuff. All that is needed to begin is to consider that an allergic person’s
margin of safety may already be, or may be made to be, wider than thought
possible, and that facing one’s disease is good for it and one’s whole quality
of life.” – from the Introduction to The
Sprouted Peanut Vaccine and Other Stories
